SWAG Academy (Scholars With Achievable Goals)

Student at graduationScholars With Achievable Goals (SWAG) Leadership Academy is a collaborative university-community partnership between the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and the Boys and Girls Club of the Tennessee Valley.

Developed in the fall of 2020, its vision is to establish an effective programmatic cohort that enhances the skillset of leadership; inter-, intra-, and group communication; and public speaking though mentorship and service learning.

SWAG Academy is a developmental leadership and communication program geared towards middle school students to provide leadership development and foster the idea of post-secondary educational experience through intrusive mentorship.

  • Develop student leadership skills through a variety of workshops and activities. Students will be exposed to topics including, but not limited to: community engagement, service-learning, public speaking and presentation, goal setting, and conflict resolution.
  • Provide workshops that will connect students to college students in their fields of interest for mentorship.
