Are you involved in academic outreach and engagement at the University of Tennessee and/or do you have an interest in advancing engaged scholarship at UT? If so, please considering applying to be a member of the UT Academic Outreach and Engagement Council (AOEC). Details about membership are provided below:
Membership on the AOEC is open to all faculty members from the University of Tennessee Knoxville campus and the Institute of Agriculture interested in academic outreach and engagement. Members can be nominated in one of two ways:
- Members may be self-nominated based on experience, interest, and expertise in academic outreach and engagement.
- The Vice Chancellor for Research and Engagement will also solicit recommendations for nominations from deans.
Council members will be involved in university-level activities advocating for engaged outreach, promoting the integration of outreach and engagement in department bylaws, creating exemplars of outreach and engagement to support faculty creativity, and advancing a resolution to include engaged scholarship in Promotion and Progress documents.
If you are interested, please complete a very short, online application.
Application forms will be reviewed by members of the AOEC Nominations/Membership Committee, who will provide membership recommendations to the AOEC.
Council members will serve a two-year term beginning fall 2017 and will be automatically renewed for another two-year term unless the member no longer desires to serve or members of the AOEC Executive Committee desire to terminate his/her membership. New members will constitute no more than one-half of the Council members. Additional information about the Council is available at engagement.utk.edu/aoec/
The deadline for submissions is March 31, 2017. New members will be notified by the end of April 2017.
