Research Seed Funding

The Office of Research and Engagement will launch the second call for Research Seed proposals which will serve as a catalyst for UTK and UT Space Institute faculty. The grant program offers internal funds to help generate proposal submissions to focused sponsors or around a specific initiative. The ideal project would apply for external funding and begin to generate manuscripts for publication no later than four months after the seed project concludes. Ultimately, ORE is looking to support projects that encourage faculty members to identify and seek new funding targets. Like last year, seed grants are available in four categories:

  • Biomedical Research Seed Program proposals are due October 31. It has been expanded to include any biomedical research topic; external funding targets may include NIH, other agencies, and foundations.
  • Mission Agency Research Seed Program proposals are due November 14.
  • Community Engaged Research Seed Program proposals are due November 28.
  • Interdisciplinary Research Seed Program proposals due December 12.

Complete solicitations and FAQs will be posted by September 19. An information session is being offered September 17 from 2:00-3:00 and September 26 from 12:30-1:30 in Blount Hall 004. Register for the workshop here.
