UT Community Engagement Awards

As part of the University’s commitment to community collaboration and community-engaged scholarship, we are now seeking UT proposals for the following opportunities:

The C. Peter Magrath and W.K. Kellogg Engagement Awards

The Office of Community Engagement and Outreach seeks broad-based partnership proposals for UT Knoxville’s annual submission for the W.K. Kellogg Foundation Engagement Award and C. Peter Magrath Award. These awards recognize programs that demonstrate how colleges and universities have redesigned their learning, discovery, and engagement missions to become even more involved with their communities. Internal deadline for all UT proposals is Friday, February 12, 2016

2016-17 Community Engagement Grants

As part of UT’s commitment to community collaboration and community-engaged scholarship, the Chancellor provides special project seed funding for proposals that specifically enhance the public engagement mission of the university. Deadline for proposals: March 4, 2016 at 5 p.m.

NIH/DHHS Community-Based Asthma Care Implementation Programs

The purpose of this FOA is to support clinical trials to evaluate Asthma Care Implementation Programs (ACIP) that provide comprehensive care for children at high risk of poor asthma outcomes. The community-based ACIPs are expected to address the needs of the U.S. community in which the study will be conducted and integrate interventions with demonstrated efficacy from four different sectors: medical care, family, home, and community. Up to four, multi-year grants to be awarded for up to $5.5 million each. Letters of Intent due October 16, 2016. 

Alexia Foundation Grants to Promote World Peace and Cultural Understanding through Photography

The Alexia Foundation offers a professional Alexia Grant to enable professional photographers and visual journalists to produce substantial bodies of work that share the Foundation’s goals of promoting world peace and cultural understanding. Work that helps bring about change is more valued. The professional Grant recipient will receive $20,000 for the production of the proposed project. Deadline for applications is January 31, 2016.

2016 World of Children Award Program

This annual award program was created to recognize individuals who make a difference in the lives of children across the globe, regardless of political, religious, or geographical boundaries. The World of Children Awards grant funds to support the proven, sustainable, high-impact programs they have created for children. Awards will be granted in the following categories:

  • World of Children Protection Award: Recognizes individuals making extraordinary contributions to children so that they can live free from fear, abuse, and exploitation. Minimum grants will be in the amount of $50,000. Deadline for nominations is April 1, 2016.
  • World of Children Education Award: Recognizes individuals who are making extraordinary contributions to the lives of vulnerable children in their educational development and providing them the platform from which to become fully productive members of society. Minimum grants will be in the amount of $50,000. Deadline for nominations is April 1, 2016.
  • World of Children Health Award: Recognizes an individual who has made a significant contribution to children in the fields of health, medicine or the sciences. Minimum grants will be in the amount of $50,000. Deadline for nominations is April 1, 2016.
  • World of Children Humanitarian Award: Recognizes an individual who has made a significant contribution to children in the areas of social services or humanitarian services. Minimum grants will be in the amount of $50,000. Deadline for nominations is April 1, 2016.

Spencer Foundation Small Education Grants

The Small Research Grants program is intended to support education research projects with budgets of $50,000 or less. This program aims to fund academic work that will contribute to the improvement of education, broadly conceived. Historically, the work funded through these grants has spanned a range of topics and disciplines, including education, psychology, sociology, economics, history, and anthropology, and they employ a wide range of research methods. The next deadline for proposals is February 1, 2016.

NSF Industry/University Cooperative Research Centers Program (I/UCRC)

The Industry/University Cooperative Research Centers (I/UCRC) program develops long-term partnerships among industry, academe, and government. The Centers are catalyzed by an investment from the National Science Foundation (NSF) and are primarily supported by industry Center members, with NSF taking a supporting role in the development and evolution of the Center. Each Center is established to conduct research that is of interest to both the industry members and the Center faculty. An I/UCRC contributes to the nation’s research infrastructure base and enhances the intellectual capacity of the engineering and science workforce through the integration of research and education. Letters of intent due by May 9, 2016.

American Honda Foundation Youth Education

The American Honda Foundation (AHF) is soliciting proposals on youth education with a specific focus on the STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) subjects in addition to the environment.

Call for Diversity-Related Research Papers

As part of UT’s Faculty Appreciation Week, faculty are invited to submit proposals for posters presenting research conducted on diversity-related topics, which may include but are not limited to: first-generation students; religion and faith traditions; low income & socioeconomic status; veterans, persons with disabilities; gender expression; gender identity; sexual orientation; race; ethnicity; intersectionality; privilege; social justice; and civil rights. The call for proposals ends January 27, 2016.
