The Mission of The College of Arts and Sciences’ Community Partnerships with the Arts Programs is to put the University’s students and faculty into the public arts arena and to include the public in our own arts venues as well. These programs, offered through the Department of Theatre, the School of Music, and the School of Art, involve over 100 faculty members and over 800 students each year.
The Department of Theatre and the Clarence Brown Theatre enjoy partnerships with several community organizations. Past joint productions with the Knoxville Symphony include Amadeus and Sweeney Todd: the Demon Barber of Fleet Street. The Department of Theatre and the Clarence Brown also partner with other community organizations including the Knoxville Area Urban League, the Knoxville Public Library, the Knoxville Junior League, the Theatre Communications Group-sponsored Blue Star Theatres program, the Deaf community, the Tennessee Arts Commission, and the Arts & Culture Alliance, to name a few. Information on these and other community partnerships can be found on the CBT’s community engagement webpage.
