UT’s SARIF Foreign Travel Fund
The SARIF Foreign Travel Fund for the current budget year, ending June 30, 2015 (FY2015), has been fully allocated. FY15 funding may still become available if an approved trip was cancelled by a faculty member or if costs were lower than estimated, and any additional applications will be placed on a waiting list according to date of receipt. Applications for travel in FY16 are now being accepted. There is no limit, even within the year, on how many times a faculty member can apply for these funds. Funds approved from SARIF are usually no more than $1,000.
Call for Proposals: Community Engagement Health Research Program
The 2nd Annual Community Engagement Research Program Community Partnership Forum will provide participants with the tools required to develop and sustain, successful and mutually beneficial, community-university research partnerships. All evidenced -based research and interventions that highlight the following are welcomed: Community-based programs/Interventions, Clinical setting interventions, Policy Development/ Public Health Research and Environmental issues. The summit will take place in Atlanta on May 28 and 29. Abstracts are due April 27, 2015.
New York Life Higher Education Civic Engagement Awards
The Washington Center’s New York Life Higher Education Civic Engagement Awards recognize institutions achieving breadth and depth of civic engagement through sustained and mutually transformational partnerships that define and address issues of public concern at any level from the local to the global. Nomination deadline is May 22, 2015.
Call for Proposals: 2nd Annual Collaborators for Change Diversity Summit
The University of Tennessee, Knoxville’s Office of the Vice Chancellor for Diversity is pleased to announce the Call for Proposals for the 2nd Annual Collaborators for Change Diversity Summit for faculty and staff only, to be held Sept. 25, 2015. Faculty and staff from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville are invited to submit proposals for presentations, panels, workshops, interactive sessions, or posters/exhibits addressing diversity and inclusion. We hope to address a range of critically important issues and themes for our campus. Proposals are due by June 1, 2015.
Acres for America Land Conservation Grants
Acres for America is one of the most effective public-private partnerships in the history of U.S. conservation efforts. The National Fish and Wildlife and Walmart teamed up to establish the Acres for America program to conserve lands of national significance, protect critical fish and wildlife habitat and benefit people and local economies. Deadline for invited full proposals is Aug. 4, 2015. Deadline for pre-proposals are June 19, 2015.
NEH Accepting Proposals for Common Heritage Grants
Common Heritage will support both the digitization of cultural heritage materials and the organization of public programming at community events that explore these materials as a window on a community’s history and culture. The Common Heritage program recognizes that members of the public, in partnership with libraries, museums, archives, and historical organizations, have much to contribute to the understanding of our cultural mosaic. Together, such institutions and the public can be effective partners in the appreciation and stewardship of our common heritage. Grants of up to $12,000 will be typically awarded for a period of 18 months. Proposal deadline is June 25, 2015.
Environmental Research and Education Foundation to Fund Research in Solid Waste Management
The Environmental Research and Education Foundation (EREF) is the only private, grant making institution with a national and international scope whose sole mission is to support solid waste research and education initiatives. Submissions of proposals must relate to sustainable solid waste management practices like (A) Waste minimization, (B) Recycling, (C) Waste conversion to energy, biofuels, chemicals or other useful products, (D) Strategies to promote diversion to higher and better uses and/or (E) Landfilling. Previously awarded grants have ranged from $15,000 to over $500,000, with the average grant amount roughly $160,000. Deadline to apply is July 15, 2015.
Retirement Research Foundation Grants Seek to Engage Older Adults
Funding for RRF’s general program of grantmaking is given to efforts that support the Foundation’s funding interests to (1) improve the availability and quality of community-based and long-term services and supports, (2) provide new and expanded opportunities for older adults to engage in meaningful roles in society, (3) seek causes and solutions to significant problems of older adults, and (4) increase the number of professionals and paraprofessionals adequately prepared to serve the elder population. Deadline to apply is Aug. 1, 2015.
Limited Submission Opportunity: FY 2015 Studies Program on At-Risk or System-Involved Girls
This program will sponsor studies and/or secondary analyses of existing data to provide objective, independent knowledge about the extent and impact of girls’ contact with the juvenile and adult justice systems including arrests, referrals to court, diversion, charges filed, placement in secure juvenile detention facilities and adult jails and lockups, findings of delinquency, placement in secure juvenile correctional facilities, probation, and transfers to the adult criminal justice system.
