UT Outreach Incentive Grants are allocated through a competitive annual process, subject to both academic and community peer review. This year’s funded projects range from health and disaster readiness efforts with with Red Bird Mission to meet the basic needs of an Appalachian community to documenting oral histories of downtown Knoxville’s built environment for a publicly accessible online archive that celebrates the city’s unique cultural identity.
Grant recipients will use these funds to maintain the university’s connection to local communities, so residents may see their communities grow and prosper.
Cindy White, principal at Vine Middle Magnet School, is a community partner for one of the funded projects. “We are pleased to be part of this project that supports students’ learning and motivation in mathematics,” said White. “We believe the partnership will foster further collaboration among the University, school, and neighborhood community.”
